What separates the best robot vacuum with obstacle avoidance?
Five robots ran the same floor for two weeks. The scores come from cleaning performance (30 points), navigation and obstacles (25), dock and maintenance (15), app and noise (10) and value (20).
The Roborock Qrevo Curv scores 8.5 at $1,599.99. It recovered 94% of debris, avoided the cable, sock and mess on every run, and climbs thresholds up to 4 cm. The dock washes and dries the mop pads with hot water, but it is large and needs a water refill or a plumbing kit.
The Dreame L40 Ultra scores 8.4 at $1,499.99. It recovered 92% of debris, reached the skirting boards with its extending mop, and leaves the pads at the dock for a carpet-only run. Suction is rated lower than the Roborock, and the app is busier.
The eufy X10 Pro Omni scores 8.0 at $799.99. It is the cheapest robot here with a full wash-dry-empty dock. It avoided the cable and sock, hesitated at the mess once, and cleaned dried coffee in two passes. Pickup was 86%, sand in medium carpet was left behind, and it is the loudest robot in the test.
The Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo scores 8.0 at $1,199.99. Its dock also charges and empties a cordless stick vacuum. Edge mopping reached corners and pads are washed in hot water. Carpet pickup is a step behind the Roborock and Dreame, and the handheld is a light-duty stick.
The iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ scores 7.8 at $1,399.99. Its mop pad rides on top of the robot across carpet, with zero damp edges in the test, and dual rubber rollers cleared pet hair without tangling. The dock does not wash the pad, and camera navigation needs light.
What should you check before buying?
Look at how each robot handles your floor type. Carpet owners should weigh the 94% and 92% debris recovery of the Roborock and Dreame against the 86% of the eufy. Mixed-floor homes get the retractable mop arm of the Roomba Combo j9+ or the detachable pads of the Dreame.
Then check the dock. The Roborock, Dreame, eufy and Ecovacs wash and dry pads; the Roomba does not, so you wash the pad yourself. The Roborock dock is large and needs a water refill or plumbing kit.
Obstacle handling matters if you leave cables, socks or pet messes out. The Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs avoided all three obstacles. The eufy hesitated at the mess once.
Which one for whom?
- Roborock Qrevo Curv: the most complete robot tested, for anyone who wants the highest debris recovery and a dock that washes and dries pads.
- Dreame L40 Ultra: a near-match for the Roborock at a lower street price, with corner mopping and pads that detach on carpet.
- eufy X10 Pro Omni: the cheapest fully hands-off robot tested, for buyers who want a wash-dry-empty dock under $800.
- Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo: one station for the whole floor and the stairs, thanks to the docked cordless stick vacuum.
- iRobot Roomba Combo j9+: the best mopping design for mixed floors, with a mop pad that lifts fully onto the robot's back on carpet.
For the highest debris recovery and a dock that washes and dries pads, the Roborock Qrevo Curv is the pick.
