What problem does the iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ solve?

The Roomba Combo j9+ is built for homes where carpet and hard floor meet in the same room. Its retractable mop pad lifts fully onto the top of the robot when it crosses carpet, so the pad never drags a damp edge across your rug. In our test, that design produced zero damp edges, which is why we call it the best mopping design for mixed floors.

The dock is where it lost points. It does not wash the mop pad, so you do. In our two-week test that meant one manual pad wash. The dock refills water only, so there is no hot-water wash or drying cycle like the Roborock, Dreame and eufy offer.

Navigation is the second weakness. Camera vSLAM needs light and maps more slowly than the LiDAR robots here. Runtime is 120 min, the shortest in this comparison, and noise measured 66 dB at 1 m.
