Boost Mobile (Unlimited) review 2027
The fourth carrier: its own 5G network plus AT&T and T-Mobile as backup, and a $25 unlimited price it promises never to raise
Is the Boost Mobile Worth It?
Best price lock. Boost's price promise is genuinely unusual and the plan is cheap. The network experience was the least consistent in our month, which is what the coverage score says.
Boost Mobile Pros & Cons
- $25 unlimited with a price-lock guarantee
- Falls back to AT&T or T-Mobile where its own network is thin
- 30 GB of premium data at the price
- Phone deals for new customers
- Own network was patchy on our rural drives; fallback switching added dropouts
- No hotspot on the base plan
- Support was the slowest we timed
What problem does Boost Mobile Unlimited solve?
Boost Mobile's Unlimited plan is built around one promise: the price you pay now is the price you keep. The $25 monthly rate comes with a price-lock guarantee, which is unusual in a prepaid market where promotional rates tend to expire. For anyone who has watched a cheap introductory rate climb after a few months, that guarantee is the core benefit here.
The plan runs on Boost's own 5G network and falls back to AT&T or T-Mobile where that network is thin, so you are not stranded when Boost's coverage runs out. It includes 30 GB of premium data at the $25 price, and new customers can access phone deals. The trade-offs are real: the base plan has no hotspot, support was the slowest we timed, and our rural drives exposed patchy coverage with dropouts during fallback switching.
How did we score Boost Mobile Unlimited?
We scored the plan across five criteria for a total of 8 out of 10.
- Value: 26 out of 30. This measures the monthly price for one line of unlimited with taxes and fees, plus the multi-line price for four. Boost's $25 one-line and $100 four-line pricing scored well here.
- Coverage & network: 17 out of 25. This covers which network the plan uses and measured signal at our 12 metro and two rural test points. Boost's own network was the least consistent part of our month.
- Data & speed: 15 out of 20. This looks at median download speed across 30 days, the premium-data cap, and how hard the plan is deprioritised when the tower is busy. Boost's 30 GB premium cap and 64 Mbps median download sit mid-pack.
- Perks & features: 12 out of 15. This measures hotspot allowance, international use, streaming bundles, phone deals, Wi-Fi calling and eSIM. The zero hotspot allowance on the base plan is the main deduction.
- Service: 10 out of 10. This covers minutes to reach support, app quality, and how easy it was to leave. Boost scored full marks here despite support being the slowest we timed, because leaving was straightforward.
What does Boost Mobile Unlimited do well?
The price-lock guarantee is the standout. A $25 unlimited plan that promises never to raise the rate is rare, and it directly addresses the frustration of promotional pricing that expires. The fallback to AT&T and T-Mobile means you are not limited to Boost's own network footprint, which matters in areas where Boost's 5G is still filling in.
In our testing, the plan delivered a median download speed of 64 Mbps across the 30-day period. That is a workable speed for everyday use, and it came with 30 GB of premium data before any deprioritisation. New customers also get access to phone deals, which lowers the effective cost of switching.
What is inside the Boost Mobile Unlimited plan?
The plan's components and terms break down as follows:
- Network: Boost 5G plus AT&T and T-Mobile fallback
- Type: Prepaid, carrier-owned
- Plan tested: Unlimited
- One line: $25 per month
- Four lines: $100 per month total
- Premium data: 30 GB
- Hotspot: 0 GB
- International: Add-ons
- Contract: None
There is no contract, so you can leave without a termination fee. International use is not included and requires add-ons. The absence of hotspot data on the base plan is a clear limitation for anyone who needs to tether a laptop or tablet.
How does Boost Mobile Unlimited compare to rivals?
We tested five competing plans in the same category. Boost's 8 out of 10 sits below T-Mobile's 8.8, US Mobile's 8.7, Visible's 8.7, AT&T Prepaid's 8.5 and Google Fi Wireless's 8.5.
Against T-Mobile Essentials Saver at $50, Boost is half the one-line price and matches the $100 four-line total, but T-Mobile includes 50 GB of premium data, 3 GB of hotspot, and unlimited texting plus 2G data in 215+ countries. T-Mobile also scored higher on network consistency in our metro tests.
US Mobile at $25 offers a choice of Verizon, T-Mobile or AT&T and lets you switch between them, with 35 GB of premium data and 10 GB of hotspot. Boost counters with its price-lock guarantee and its own 5G network, but US Mobile scored 8.7 to Boost's 8.
Visible at $25 runs on Verizon with 999 GB of hotspot and taxes included, though the base plan has no premium data and is deprioritised. Boost includes 30 GB of premium data but no hotspot at all, which is a straight trade-off between the two.
AT&T Prepaid at $25 on the annual plan gives you AT&T's network with stores and phone support, 10 GB of hotspot, and Mexico and Canada included, but no premium data and a 12-month prepay requirement. Google Fi Wireless at $35 includes 50 GB of premium data, 5 GB of hotspot, and free data and texts in 200+ destinations on Premium, but costs more per line.

Where does Boost Mobile Unlimited fall short?
Coverage consistency was the weakest part of our month. Boost's own network was patchy on our rural drives, and the fallback switching between networks added dropouts rather than smoothing them over. That is reflected in the coverage and network score of 17 out of 25.
The base plan has no hotspot allowance, which rules it out for anyone who needs to share a connection. Support was the slowest we timed, which is a practical drawback if something goes wrong. International use requires add-ons rather than being included.
Is Boost Mobile Unlimited good value?
At $25 for one line and $100 for four lines, Boost sits at the low end of the market on price. The price-lock guarantee means that rate is not a temporary promotion, which is the main reason the value score reached 26 out of 30.
Compared with T-Mobile at $50 for one line, Boost is cheaper but includes less premium data and no hotspot. Compared with US Mobile and Visible at the same $25, Boost matches on price but differs on network choice and hotspot. The value case rests on the price lock and the 30 GB premium data allowance rather than on extras.
Who should buy Boost Mobile Unlimited?
This plan suits budget lines in cities where Boost covers well. If you want a $25 unlimited plan with a rate that will not rise, and you do not need hotspot or international roaming, Boost delivers that. The fallback to AT&T and T-Mobile adds a safety net in areas where Boost's own network is thin.
It is less suitable if you regularly travel through rural areas, need to tether other devices, or want fast support. In those cases, the higher-scoring rivals with hotspot allowances and more consistent coverage are the better fit.
