What separates the top picks on this page?
Three services made the cut, and the scores come from the same 20 briefs. Envato Elements scored 9 and filled 18 of 20 briefs — templates, motion graphics and music were unbeatable. Adobe Stock scored 8.2 and had the best photography quality on our briefs; rejected assets are rare. Freepik Premium scored 8 and filled every vector and mockup brief, with Flaticon icons included.
Price is the other split. Envato Elements costs $16.50 a month, Adobe Stock $29.99, Freepik Premium $12. Adobe's $3 per asset at 10 a month can add up, and video is credit-based and pricey. Freepik is the cheapest unlimited plan in the test, but video and music are thin or absent, and fair-use download limits apply to "unlimited".
What should you check before buying?
Start with the licence. Envato Elements gives a single commercial licence that covers everything, but assets must be registered to a project to stay licensed after cancelling. Adobe Stock offers a perpetual licence on downloads, with up to 120 unused rolls over. Freepik's fair-use limits mean you should read the terms if you download heavily.
Then match the library to your work. If you need photography, Adobe Stock is the strongest here. If you need vectors, mockups and icons, Freepik Premium covers that. If you need templates, motion graphics and music, Envato Elements is the one that filled 18 of 20 briefs.
Finally, check the tools you already use. Adobe Stock lets you licence a watermarked comp straight from Photoshop. Envato Elements and Freepik Premium don't have that integration, so factor in the extra steps.
Which one for whom?
- Envato Elements — best for designers who need templates, motion graphics and music in one subscription, and who can live with photography that's broad but shallower than Adobe or Shutterstock at the top end.
- Adobe Stock — best for designers who need the best photography quality and a perpetual licence, and who work inside Photoshop, Illustrator or Premiere.
- Freepik Premium — best for designers who need vectors, mockups and icons, and who want the cheapest unlimited plan here.
If you need templates, motion graphics and music, Envato Elements is the pick. For photography and a perpetual licence, Adobe Stock. For vectors, mockups and icons on the cheapest unlimited plan, Freepik Premium.
