Is the UPERFECT 15.6" 1080p Portable Monitor Worth It?

Best budget monitor with a VESA mount. UPERFECT's 15.6 is the budget panel to pick if it will spend most of its life on a desk arm or a stand rather than in a bag. Picture quality sits between the Arzopa and the ViewSonic.

What problem does the UPERFECT 15.6" 1080p Portable Monitor solve?

Most portable monitors are built to travel, which means flimsy folding covers and no way to mount them. The UPERFECT 15.6" 1080p Portable Monitor takes the opposite approach: it is a budget 15.6-inch IPS panel that adds a VESA mount and a metal kickstand, so it can live on a desk arm or a stand instead of in a bag. At $129.99 it is the budget panel to pick for a desk-side second screen, and its picture quality sits between the Arzopa and the ViewSonic.

How did it score in our testing?

We scored the UPERFECT across five criteria for a total of 7.8 out of 10.

  • Image quality: 19/30. This criterion measures brightness, contrast, colour coverage and accuracy, panel type, and resolution at the size.
  • Portability & build: 15/20. We weigh the monitor, the stand or cover, and how it survived a week in a bag. At 1.8 lb with a metal kickstand it is reasonable, though it is not the lightest panel here.
  • Connectivity: 18/20. Single-cable USB-C with power delivery, HDMI, phone and console compatibility, and included cables all count. USB-C (DP Alt), mini-HDMI and USB-C power cover the essentials.
  • Features: 8/10. Touch, speakers, battery, VESA mount, OSD controls and refresh rate are assessed. The VESA mount and speakers earn points; the fiddly menu buttons cost some.
  • Value: 18/20. Price against measured quality. At $129.99 with a VESA mount, this is where the monitor is strongest.

What are the standout strengths?

The VESA 75 mount is the headline. Very few budget portables offer one, and combined with the metal kickstand it means the UPERFECT can be bolted to an arm or propped on a desk without a separate stand. The 240 nits we measured is brighter than the Arzopa, and the 95% sRGB coverage is workable for general use. At 1.8 lb it is light enough to move between desks. USB-C and HDMI are both present, and the built-in speakers mean you do not need to route audio elsewhere.

What is inside, and how is it built?

Measured brightness is 240 nits and sRGB coverage is 95%. The monitor weighs 1.8 lb. Ports are USB-C (DP Alt), mini-HDMI and USB-C power. The stand is a metal kickstand, and the chassis includes a VESA 75 mount for desk arms. Speakers are built in. The OSD is controlled by physical menu buttons that we found fiddly in use.

How does it compare with the competition?

The ViewSonic has 235 nits and 96% sRGB, so brightness and colour coverage are close, but the ViewSonic lacks a VESA mount. Against the ASUS ZenScreen MB16ACV at $199, the UPERFECT is cheaper but scores lower, 7.8 versus 8.2; the ASUS offers 248 nits, 99% sRGB and a Kensington slot. The ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16AH at $399 scores 8.3 with 360 nits, 100% sRGB and an OLED panel, a different class of picture. The Lenovo ThinkVision M14 at $249 scores 7.8, matching the UPERFECT overall, with 290 nits, 98% sRGB and two USB-C ports for pass-through charging. The espresso 15 Pro at $499 scores 7.9 with a 4K touchscreen and 300 nits.

Feature comparison

Panel types run IPS across the UPERFECT, ViewSonic, ASUS MB16ACV, Lenovo and espresso, with the ASUS MQ16AH using OLED. Brightness ranges from 235 nits on the ViewSonic to 360 nits on the OLED ASUS. sRGB coverage runs from 95% on the UPERFECT to 100% on the OLED ASUS and espresso. Weight spans 1.3 lb on the Lenovo to 1.9 lb on the ASUS MB16ACV and ViewSonic. Ports vary: the UPERFECT, ViewSonic and OLED ASUS include mini-HDMI, while the ASUS MB16ACV and Lenovo are USB-C only. Only the espresso 15 Pro offers touch. Every monitor here refreshes at 60 Hz.

Where does it fall short?

Colour accuracy is the main weakness. With a ΔE around 3.5, this is not a monitor for editing. The menu buttons are fiddly, and support is by email only. The 95% sRGB coverage trails the 99% of the ASUS MB16ACV and the 100% of the OLED ASUS and espresso. At 1.8 lb it is heavier than the 1.4 lb OLED ASUS and the 1.3 lb Lenovo. There is no touch option on this specific model, though UPERFECT sells touch versions elsewhere in the line.

Is it good value at $129.99?

The price is $129.99, and value scored 18/20. That reflects a VESA mount, a metal kickstand, USB-C and HDMI, speakers and 240 nits at a budget price. The ViewSonic undercuts it at $119.99, but without a VESA mount. For buyers who need mounting, the UPERFECT justifies the extra cost.

Who should buy it?

This is for desk-side second screens on a budget. If the monitor will sit on an arm or a stand rather than travel in a bag, the VESA 75 mount and metal kickstand make it a sensible pick at $129.99. Buyers who need colour accuracy for editing, or who want the lightest possible travel panel, should look at the alternatives above.
