In our testing it delivered 9,800 results across three searches, the most of any site here, with particular strength in nursing and hourly roles. Everything a job seeker needs to use it is free, including Indeed Apply and the resume builder, and company reviews and salary data sit on the listing itself.

That breadth is the benefit. If you are searching for local, hourly or healthcare work, Indeed is likely to have the posting, and you will not pay to apply for it. The trade-off is quality: 71% of first-page listings verified real and current, the lowest figure in this test, with duplicates from aggregators and staffing agencies and sponsored listings crowding the top. It ranks third of eight in the category with a score of 8.2, and listing quality is where it lost ground.

How did Indeed score in our tests?

We scored Indeed across five criteria, and the breakdown shows exactly where the strengths and weaknesses sit.

• Listing quality: 20 out of 30. This measures the share of listings that were real, current and matched the employer's own site, with duplicates and scams counted against. Indeed's 71% verified rate is the lowest here.
• Search and filters: 15 out of 20. Remote and hybrid, salary, schedule and location filters that actually work, plus alert precision.
• Seeker tools: 17 out of 20. Resume builder, one-click apply, salary data, company reviews, interview prep and application tracking.

The pattern is clear: full marks for coverage and value, near-full marks for seeker tools, and the losses concentrated in listing quality.

Where does Indeed stand out?

Coverage is the headline. Across our three searches Indeed returned 9,800 results, more than any rival tested, and the advantage was sharpest for nursing and hourly roles. For a nurse looking at hospital systems in a metro area, or an hourly worker comparing shift patterns, the volume of postings is hard to match elsewhere.

The seeker tools are also unusually complete for a free site. Indeed Apply and the resume builder cost nothing, company reviews and salary data appear on the listing, and there are hiring events and assessments built in. The value score of 15 out of 15 reflects that: there is no paid tier standing between a seeker and the tools.

How does Indeed compare with the competition?

Against LinkedIn Jobs (8.6), Indeed wins on volume and loses on relevance and screening. LinkedIn is free with a Premium Career tier at $39.99/mo, uses employer-verified accounts and automated fraud checks, and its alerts are precise. Indeed has no remote focus and no equivalent verification layer, but it returned more results for our searches.

FlexJobs (8.4) is the opposite trade. It charges $9.95/wk, $24.95/mo or $59.95/yr with a 30-day money-back guarantee, focuses on remote and flexible work, and hand-screens every listing, reaching 98% verified real in our test, the highest of any site. Indeed is free and far broader, but its 71% verified rate is the lowest here.

Glassdoor (8.1) is free and shares Indeed's jobs, since both are owned by Recruit Holdings. Glassdoor's company reviews are the reference, and its salary data is employee-reported. Indeed carries reviews and salary data too, but Glassdoor is the research tool first.

Where does Indeed fall short?

Listing quality is the weak point, and it is not a small one. At 71% verified real and current, Indeed had the lowest rate in this test. Duplicates from aggregators and staffing agencies were common, and sponsored listings crowded the top of the first page, pushing organic results down.

That combination means more time spent filtering out posts that are expired, repeated or unverifiable. The automated screening and employer-account model does not catch what a staff review would, which is why the listing quality criterion scored 20 out of 30 while coverage and value took full marks.

Is Indeed good value?

Indeed is free. The value criterion scored 15 out of 15 because the seeker pays nothing and there is no paid tier adding features behind a paywall.
