SPF, DKIM and DMARC: The Setup That Decides Whether Your Email Lands

Why Gmail and Yahoo now require authentication for bulk senders, what each record does, and how every platform we tested helps you set it up.

August 31, 2026 · 4 min read

Why it matters now

Since 2024 Gmail and Yahoo reject or spam-folder bulk mail that is not authenticated and that lacks one-click unsubscribe. Every platform in our ranking passes the second; the first needs three DNS records on your domain.

The three records

  • SPF lists the servers allowed to send for your domain.
  • DKIM signs each message so it cannot be altered.
  • DMARC tells receivers what to do when SPF or DKIM fail, and sends you reports.

Setting them up

Every platform here gives you the exact records to paste into your registrar's DNS (see our domain-registrar ranking) and verifies them. It takes ten minutes and moved our test mail from the promotions tab to the inbox at Gmail on two platforms.

Then

Send from your own domain, never from gmail.com; remove addresses that bounce; and mail people who asked for it.
