Spokeo (Monthly) review 2027
The cheapest unlimited people search, strongest on social profiles and email lookups, weaker on records
Is the Spokeo Worth It?
Best value people search. Spokeo is the site for working out who an email or number belongs to, and it costs the least. For address and record accuracy it trailed the leaders.
Spokeo Pros & Cons
- Found social and email profiles others missed
- Cheapest monthly plan here
- Fast reverse phone and email search
- Clear permitted-use statement
- Court records cost extra
- Current address correct for only 7 of 10
- Four false records — the most
What problem does Spokeo solve, and who is it for?
Spokeo is the site for working out who an email or number belongs to, and it costs the least. That is the whole case for it in one line. If a message arrives from an address you do not recognise, or a call comes in from a number with no name attached, Spokeo is built to turn that fragment into a person: a name, a set of social profiles, an email history and a phone trail.
It ranked 5th of 7 background check sites we tested, with a score of 7.5. It is not the accuracy leader — for address and record accuracy it trailed the leaders — but it found social and email profiles others missed, and it carries the cheapest monthly plan in this group at $19.95. It is for email and social lookups on a budget, not for court-grade record work.
How did Spokeo score across our five criteria?
Spokeo's 7.5 comes from these parts:
- Accuracy — 24 out of 35. This is the heaviest criterion and measures the share of current address, phone, relatives and known records found correctly for our ten test people, plus how many false records appeared. Spokeo's current address was correct for only 7 of 10, and it produced four false records — the most in the test.
- Coverage — 14 out of 20. This measures criminal, court, property, social, email and phone data sources, plus monitoring and alerts. Spokeo's strength is social and email; court records are an add-on, and there is no monitoring.
- Compliance & transparency — 10 out of 15. This covers FCRA status, how clearly permitted uses are stated, cancellation ease, and opt-out for the person being searched. Spokeo is not FCRA-compliant and is for personal use only, but its permitted-use statement is clear and it publishes an opt-out at spokeo.com/optout.
- Usability — 9 out of 10. Report clarity, search speed, app quality and upsell friction. Reverse phone and email search is fast, and the iOS and Android apps are there.
- Value — 18 out of 20. Monthly price for unlimited reports, or per-report price, at renewal. At $19.95 a month, or $14.95 a month on three months, Spokeo is the cheapest monthly plan here.
What does Spokeo do better than the rest?
Two things stand out. First, social and email coverage: Spokeo found social and email profiles others missed, which is exactly the job when you are trying to attach a name to an address or a number. Second, price. At $19.95 a month it undercuts every tested rival in this group, and the three-month rate of $14.95 a month is lower still.
