Non-WiFi (local radio) monitors turn on instantly, cannot be hacked from the internet and never drop because the router hiccupped; they only work at home. WiFi monitors let you check in from anywhere and add sleep analytics, but need a strong router, a phone, and often a subscription. Our testers preferred non-WiFi for the nursery and WiFi for travel and grandparents.

No device is proven to reduce SIDS, and the American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend monitors for that purpose.
