Shopify (Basic) review 2026
The store platform everything else imitates: checkout, payments, shipping, taxes, POS and thousands of apps — for a shop first and a website second
Is the Shopify Worth It?
Best for online stores. If the website exists to sell things, build it on Shopify and do not look back. If selling is a sideline, Squarespace or Wix will give you a better site around a smaller shop.
Shopify Pros & Cons
- Best checkout conversion tooling, abandoned-cart recovery and shipping labels
- Shop Pay and POS for in-person sales
- Thousands of apps; scales from one product to enterprise
- Reliable under traffic
- Weak for content pages and blogs; our five-page site felt like an afterthought
- Good themes cost $200–$400
- App costs add up
