Is the iO Series 5 Worth It?

Best electric toothbrush overall. The Series 5 cleans as well as Oral-B's flagship and has the pressure feedback that matters. The one running cost is iO heads, which are pricier than classic Oral-B heads.

iO Series 5 Pros & Cons

Pros
  • 88% plaque removal — best here, tied with the Series 9
  • Light ring shows too much, too little and just-right pressure
  • Noticeably quieter than older Oral-B brushes
  • Travel case included; two weeks per charge
Cons
  • iO heads cost about $8 each — no cheap third-party option
  • App coaching is basic on the Series 5
  • Plastic body feels less premium than the Series 9
