What problem does the Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven TOA-70 solve?

Most air fryers are a third appliance. That is the whole argument for it, and it is why it finished sixth of seven in our air fryer test with a score of 8.2 while still being the one we would point a certain kitchen toward.

It makes genuinely good toast and bakes, which no basket machine here does. It fits a 12-inch pizza or a whole tray of vegetables flat. It was the quietest machine in the test at 51 dB, and the stainless build looks at home on a counter. If the counter space is already spent on a toaster oven, this is the right buy. As a pure air fryer, it is the slowest of the seven.

The measured noise figure is 51 dB at one metre, the lowest in the test. The oven cavity takes a 12-inch pizza or a whole tray of vegetables flat, which no basket machine can do. The stainless build looks at home on a counter, and the coating survived 30 cycles without the wear we saw elsewhere.

Crisping speed is where it lost the test. Fries took 21 minutes and the preheat took five, clearly slower than every basket machine here. Despite the size, only 420 g fit in one layer, because oven airflow is gentler than a basket's. The footprint is large, and the interior needs hand cleaning rather than a dishwasher cycle.

Is the Cuisinart TOA-70 worth $199?

It costs $199. Value scored 10 of 15 — street price against the cooking result and the counter space it takes. If you are buying it as an air fryer alone, that is a lot of money and a lot of counter for the slowest crisper in the group.
