What does the AAFCO statement actually tell me?

It appears in small print on every bag and says two things: which life stage the food is complete for, and how that was established. Is grain-free better?

There is no evidence it is better for a dog without a diagnosed grain allergy, which is uncommon. Since 2018 the FDA has been investigating reports of dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs eating grain-free diets heavy in peas, lentils and potatoes; no causal link has been established and the investigation has not concluded.
