Bark vs Qustodio (2027)
The two paid parental-control apps parents ask about most, and they do different jobs. Qustodio filters and limits; Bark monitors messages and social media for risk. Both were installed on the same four devices for our 40-item test.
Alerts on bullying, predators, self-harm and explicit content across texts, email and 30+ apps; unlimited devices. Filtering blocked 30 of 40; iPhone texts need a computer sync.
Blocked 37 of 40 checklist items — the best web filter and time limits we tested, on iPhone, Android, Windows and Chromebook. Message monitoring is Android-only and needs the Complete plan.

Our verdict
For a child under 12 the job is filtering and limits, and Qustodio does it best. For a teenager the job is knowing when something is wrong without reading everything, and that is Bark's design. Many families run Qustodio (or Screen Time) for limits and Bark for alerts.
